Should the rose lose all its beauty
And crumble in mere decay,
Should the stream neglect its duty
And in motionless silence lay,
If the stars should lose their luster
And fall from the skies above,
If sin should become man’s master
And on earth there be found no love,
Should by reason no God bear existence
And through searching no goodness be found,
Should man shun Deity acceptance
And the heavens all echo the sound,
Still would dwell in my soul the certainty
That God lives and will for eternity.
